$1.2 billion on a facility that has a small hotel is telling how much attention was given to the rest of the facility. MGM went all out on the National Harbor casino. People coming to the Washington Region would more likely go to MGM because of familiarity than they would Arundel Mills or the Horseshoe in Baltimore. MGM has a worldwide brand along with worldwide patrons. MGM is located by one of the largest convention centers on the east coast. DC's tourist dollars are larger than Baltimore's and certainly more than Arundel Mills. It is in a suburb of one of the wealthiest metros in the country and one of the most visited. No doubt about it, MGM has the best location out of the three. It is being billed as the best casino outside of Las Vegas. What do you all predict will happen? Do you think the other two sites will suffer? Do you think realistically all 3 can survive? Do you see a situation of all 3 hurts one another? I am not big in the casino business but I am curious what others believe will be the long term effect on each of these facilities.įirst off, a lot of analysts believe that MGM will be a big deal.
So I have been reading that Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore has been struggling to meet it's projections since it has opened and so this got me thinking about what will happen when MGM opens their site.
